In a recently now-deleted post I talked about my new home espresso sidequest.
Just in case a previous deleted post would influence anyone to buy anything, I wanted to update it. Espresso machine is now replaced! Ignore that previous post.
We won’t name names about the old one, they are nice people and have good customer service! Yet — I don’t really want to experience the quality of that interface every morning, nor do I want to engage in community discussion to try to get bugs in my coffee machine fixed. More analog is better for me, plus I kind of want to feel like I am flying a spaceship.
The new machine is an ECM Sychronika 2.
I also still mostly like the Philos for a grinder, though I should have possibly bought a “Grind by Weight” grinder instead. I’m using an Acaia Orion Nano for bean counting (LOL) to compensate and decided to also get a Compak Cube autotamper (also overkill) which I think is actually totally worth it in eliminating the chance a puck is going to start spraying all over the sides of the machine.
I’m doing the whole mildly complicated “RPavlis” water thing on top of reverse osmosis water which you can google if you want. Science!
